What May Be Causing It?
Gunky, crusty eyes may be caused by an allergy or an eye infection. Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference, even for doctors. They tend to see more of those during allergy season, because people scratch their itchy eyes and can get an infection in the eye.

How Can I Get Some Relief?
Don’t tackle this yourself. If your eyes are crusty in the morning or you see crustiness throughout the day, you may have in-eye infection.

Do I Need to See a Doctor?
Yes. See your doctor right away. It may be much more serious than an allergy and is more of a medical emergency that needs to be treated promptly. Don’t delay treatment. Waiting could leave you with a serious infection in the eye that’s a lot harder to treat.
