SINUS PRESSURE, PAIN, HEADACHE
What May Be Causing It?
Allergies increase mucus production and swelling in nasal membranes, both of which can block the flow of air and mucus from the sinuses. When sinuses are blocked, pressure builds and pain results.
How Can I Get Some Relief?
On a short-term basis, you can try analgesics (pain relievers) or analgesic-decongestant combination medicines like Tylenol Cold and Sinus. Check labels for contraindications (medical reasons why you should not take this) such as high blood pressure or prostate problems. Some patients use Afrin, a topical decongestant, for a few days to blast the sinuses open. A natural method that works for many people is rinsing sinuses with warm water and salt using a neti pot or sinus rinse kit.
Do I Need to See a Doctor?
Yes, if it lasts more than 3 or 4 days. After that point, you\'re probably not going to be able to get it to clear on your own and you\'ll need help from your doctor.
